This year’s letter grades also showed improvement in the following:

  • Average growth points for the district in English Language Arts and Math increased

  • English language learners are mastering the English language at faster rates

  • All high schools maintained or increased their score on the College and Career Readiness Index

  • Chronic absenteeism decreased, on average, across our schools which helped several schools increase their letter grade

The Arizona Department of Education uses standardized assessments in grades 3-11 to measure student performance on the following:

  • Year-to-year student academic growth

  • Proficiency on English language arts, math and science academic standards

  • Proficiency and academic growth of English language learners

These measures are included in school and district letter grades as they are indicators an elementary student is ready for success in high school and high school students are ready to succeed in college and career.

Mesa Public Schools would like to thank their educators for their expertise in increasing student outcomes and our parents for supporting their child’s educational journey.
